If you--like all XC90 drivers--are bound to look for a new tire, here are some of my thoughts on selecting a tire aside from my unhelpful dealer who has three stooges working at the service desk.

The stock Pirelli Verde's are practically crap in the snow and comfort-wise. Bought this vehicle with 20k miles, and the tires have become ever increasingly loud. Poor alignment/rotation conditions also led to premature wear. (Speaking of rotations, have I told you I paid my dealer three times to rotate tires and they wrote "rotated as needed" on the service paper without ever rotating them?)

Secondly it seems one tire might've been deliberately damaged on the sidewall yesterday so I decided to replace all four. After much research I found the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 to be the best in terms of performance and price. Found them for $299 installed out-the-door. I have yet to put them on and will update when I do so. Dealer wanted $365 for new Pireli's each before install.

Not whining about poor service but this isn't the first time I have been misinformed/treated poorly by the dealer. I am sure it is the most ghetto dealer in all of the US, and is heavily outdated in terms of styling. The service reps are not very helpful either. Similar experiences anyone in tires/general service?

Good luck tire shopping.

Conti DWS's may be my next tire.
Michelin Premier's were a great lasting and performing tire for the buck.
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 N-Spec would be tops, if not driving a ton of miles.
(Standard on Porsche Panamera G2 )
General AT3 would be better for off roading. Only H speed rated for now.
(Standard on BMW X5)

Yes, the Conti's should certainly be your next tires. Holy ****, there is an extreme difference in terms of ride quality/comfort and performance. The ride is much more luxurious now, and I originally thought this car had a very stiff suspension. They are good looking, and make the ride a 100x better imo. The Pirelli's are garbage compared to these.

What exactly is a "ghetto" Volvo dealership?

A dealership that has very poor customer service standards, never answers their phone calls (automatically routed to next door Jaguar for some very odd reason), and the showroom looks as though it was built in the 20th century. Heck every Toyota an Honda dealer here look a thousand times better.

Oh ok, for a minute there I thought you were comparing a premium near luxury car dealership to an inner city urban environment ethnically populated by members of the same lower socio-economic class.

Put Contis on our 16 XC90 replacing the Pirelli's. LOVE them. Will never go back to the noisy Pirellis!
